Artwork Specifications

File formats and how to create print ready files to Screenprint

Adobe Illustrator:

Version: CS, 9, or lower, all text coverted to outlines. Overlapping elements should be on separate layers.
Each color should be a spot color. If shading is required, make it spot to spot or 100% spot to 0% spot.
If incorporating bitmaps, they should be 1 bit and in a spot color.
Whites are usually used as a undercoating, and must be choked, or trapping applied to the overlaying colors.

CorelDRAW!:

Version: X3, or lower, all text coverted to curves. Overlapping elements should be on separate layers.
Each color should be a pantone color. If shading is required, make it pantone to pantone or 100% pantone to 0% pantone.
If incorporating bitmaps, they should be 1 bit and in a spot color. (Corel uses the outline color as fill on bitmaps)
Whites are usually used as a undercoating, and must be choked, or trapping applied to the overlaying colors.

Adobe Photoshop:

Please save in RGB mode, with a resolution of 200 dpi or better, at the actual size the print should be on the shirt.
The actual image that is to be printed on the shirt should be on a separate layer. Saving all layers is best.
Avoid the overuse of blending modes. Merge layers that rely on blending modes.
Rasterize font layers, and provide a JPG copy as a sample of what it should look like.

PDFs, JPGs, GIFs, and other formats:

PDFs: Best saved from Illustrator CS or lower, text as outlines, retain editability.
JPGs: RGB mode, 200 dpi or better, actual size. GIFs: usually not an viable format, limited uses, best as sample image.
Word Docs, Power Point files are not accepted, and will require recreating. We do not accept MS PublishIt files at all.

Physical artwork formats:

Pen and ink is best to scan for linework. Pencil sketches need to have a full range of dark to light.
Color images need to be clean and clear. Also, images over 8 1/2 x 11 inches require lots more work on our end, or you can get them scanned at at a place that has a large format scanner.
Please realize that we need to know where the image ends and the shirt begins, and that white inside the image will require an ink color. White and Black, though technically not 'colors', are inks that will be printed.
